Do you have solid experience in z/OS system programming? Would you like to influence technical direction in a company that actively invests in its mainframe platform? Then this position may be the right opportunity for you.
At JN Data, the mainframe is at the core of our business. We are investing heavily in the platform and are entering one of the most significant periods of activity in our mainframe area. As a System Programmer z/OS, you will have the opportunity to influence how our mainframe platform evolves in the years to come.
The role
As a System Programmer z/OS, you will have the opportunity to influence how our mainframe platform evolves in the years to come. The role requires both deep technical expertise and the ability to assess the broader consequences of changes across systems and the organisation. Your tasks will include:
- Manage and support the z/OS environment, including TSO, ISPF, SMP/E, GDPS, MFA, JES2 and SYSPLEX, and assess the impact of configuration changes with particular focus on security and segregation of duties (SoD)
- Ensure the continuous optimisation of system designs, taking into account system complexity, security, company standards and performance
- Take ownership of system issues and proactively address them to minimise downtime
- Follow the company strategy for the mainframe, guidelines and directives, executing necessary tasks with attention to detail and efficiency
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve system issues, recommend improvements and support project initiatives
- Act as a resource for team members and provide expertise on best practice for z/OS system configurations
- Ensure that all system documentation is accurate and up to date
The team
You will join a team of highly skilled specialists responsible for operating and evolving one of Denmark’s most critical z/OS environments. You will have strong opportunities for professional development, including relevant training, certifications and participation in specialist conferences.
We are also strengthening the mainframe area through our internal z/Academy - a training programme that develops new mainframe specialists through formal learning and hands-on experience. As an experienced profile, you will have the opportunity share your expertise and support the development of less experienced colleagues.
What we are looking for
- Solid experience with z/OS, Sysplex, TSO, ISPF, SMP/E, Catalogs (including multi-level alias usage), GRS, z/OSMF and JES2
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and provide timely solutions
- Knowledge of z/OS high-level security policies and best practices
- Ability to understand organisational impact of technical decisions
- A curious and proactive approach towards optimisation and problem resolution
- Communication skills in Danish and English, as daily collaboration takes place in both languages (Danish is the corporate language)
You may also have experience with:
- Disaster recovery planning and execution within GDPS
- Assembler
